Mettle - Free £50 for a new account

Mettle (by NatWest) is a bank that has been built specifically to help small business owners (sole traders and limited companies).

Until 30 June 2025, you can get £50 cash when you open a Mettle account via referral and here’s exactly how:

  1. Download the Mettle app (https://www.mettle.co.uk/) and open an account (it’s worth noting that no hard credit check is carried out as no overdraft is given)

  2. When it comes to the business, any side hustle you have such as mystery shopping, market research, Vinted, eBay, etc. will count as a “sole trade business”

  3. Once you have signed up, wait for your card to arrive in the post and “Activate” it by going to “Account” in the app

  4. Deposit a small amount (say £10+) into your Mettle account

  5. Make a card payment within 30 days of opening the account

  6. Wait for the transaction to move from “Pending”

  7. Once it has processed, go to “Account” > “Redeem a code” and enter my referral code “GRNRQ”

  8. Shortly after you will receive the £50 cash into your Mettle account

  9. What’s more, if you have any other friends with side hustles or small businesses, you can then refer them and you’ll both get £50!

It seems like a lot of steps but I anticipate your total time input will be less than 15 minutes for a cool £50 cash! I’ve been using Mettle for my business for 4 years and couldn’t recommend them more for a decent service and with it being part of NatWest you know it’s trustworthy!
