Tips & Tricks

0% Commission

Before you do ANY offers, check the sign-up section to see if you are able to get 0% commission on Smarkets. If you can, then please do this and use Smarkets over Betfair as Betfair’s 5% commission will eat into your profits!

Getting Gubbed

You will get “gubbed” or banned from various betting sites as they don’t like matched bettors, even though it is completely legal. To avoid getting gubbed, you can place mug bets. This is where you bet on a big event like a Premier League match in an attempt to look like a normal gambler.

Obviously lay the bet so you don’t lose too much, but some betting accounts are worth £100s per year so losing £2 here or there can certainly be worth it!

I got gubbed from these sites very quickly:

  • BoyleSports

  • ThePools

  • VirginBet & LiveScore (Same group)

  • Betway (after too many Early Payouts)

Go slow

You may want to make a lot of money very quickly, and you certainly can from matched betting but I would recommend that you focus on understanding how matched betting works first.

If you make mistakes they can be expensive (I know all too well) so go slow and if there is an offer you don’t understand, then don’t do it!

Avoid ACCAs

This may be an unpopular opinion, but based on my own experiences ACCAs are too risky to do regularly. If you are doing a sign-up offer, check when the matches are using the Outplayed* ACCA Catcher and make sure you are available around these times.

I have lost approx £200 from ACCAs going wrong. Most of this was where a match within my ACCA got cancelled so the odds changed and I got the maths wrong!

There are other ways of approaching ACCA offers which may be better than those given on Outplayed, but I would suggest staying away from them until you are completely comfortable with them or have enough time to do the offers properly!

Ask for help

If there is something that is confusing you or that you just aren’t sure on, ask someone. Either contact Outplayed, pop a question on the Forum or email us your questions!

We are always happy to help where we can.
