Barclays - New Bank Switch Offer

£200 Cash + 5% Back on Fuel

Barclays have launched a new bank switching offer which is well worth looking at provided that you:

• Have not received switching cash from Barclays before

• Did not have a Barclays account on or after 10 March 2026

Here’s how to get the £200:

1. Open a sole account via the Barclays app

2. Switch in a bank account with 2+ direct debits by 28 May 2026

3. Pay in £2,000+ within 30 days

4. You will receive £200 within 45 days

You can then get 5% cashback (paid within 2 days) when you use your Barclays Bank Account debit card to purchase fuel at Tesco petrol stations (not Esso stations linked to Tesco stores) (virtual card also works)

This piece is available until 31 July 2026 and is capped at £10/month max

Klarna - FREE £10 + £15 from me

This offer has changed since last week and is more “faffy” so I am now offering £15 cashback on top of the £10 referral bonus for anyone who uses a link I send them meaning you’d get £25

Please note that my decision is final and the £15 bonus will only be paid once the owner of the referral link receives their referral bonus and anyone who appears to be attempting to ruin the good nature of this offer will not be paid, £15 cashback will be paid by bank transfer

It is no secret that I do not love Klarna, their overall tactics and position in the Buy Now Pay Later market is something that doesn’t sit right with me

However, they have launched a new debit card referral scheme which is worth looking at in isolation

This works for existing customers who do not have a debit card with them

How to get £10

1. Message me “KLARNA” on Instagram for a referral link

2. Enter your email address at the link I send you

3. Create an account and sign up for the Klarna Card

4. Add this card to a digital wallet (Apple Pay, Google Pay, etc.)

5. Spend £5+ 3 times with the card

   • Top-ups no longer work and this must be made up of legitimate spending (I suggest splitting your grocery shop into 3 transactions at the self-checkout)

6. You will receive £10 into your “cashback” pot

7. Redeem this into your card

8. Message me when you’ve done this and if validated I will pay £15

9. You can then spend the £10 on the card or top up Revolut, etc and close the account should you wish

10. You should also be able to refer your family and friends to complete the same, earning £40 per referral (capped at 10)

According to Klarna’s own terms and conditions, there will be no impact on your credit score when applying for the Klarna Card which is a debit card product

Tesco App - Efficient Shopping

Most of you might already be aware of this, but for those who aren’t I thought it would be worth sharing this with you as I tested this out recently and was really impressed with a new-ish feature of the Tesco app

I’m not sure if it only works for Clubcard members but if you download the Tesco app and select the store you are going to be visiting you can then set up the “In-store shopping list” which is a feature I used to use on the Sainsbury’s SmartShop app but…

The one on Tesco is considerably better as rather than just letting you write down your list, you can choose the specific items from a search function and identify whether it is in stock, how much it is, which aisle it is in, etc.

Pick up a Scan As You Shop scanner when you reach the store (if available) and for each item that you added to your list (provided it’s a direct match) it will automatically tick off the list for that item

Additionally, you can order it by aisle so you know where to look for things (really handy if you are visiting a different supermarket!)

Anyway, I thought this was worth noting as it seems really helpful but any questions on it do let me know AND of course, don’t forget to use EverUp to get ~4% cashback on your shop every time!

Santander takes ownership of TSB

Last week, Santander completed their acquisition of TSB to become the third-largest banking group in the UK

In the short-term, nothing will change for Santander and/or TSB customers but it is worth noting that eventually changes will occur and it is important you keep up-to-date with their communication channels to stay in the loop

Whilst it is largely speculation, my expectation of key changes that may impact you are:

• Loss of independent £120,000 FSCS protection of funds held in both Santander and TSB; typically banking groups will only cover £120k as a total rather than for each sub-brand

• Lack of ability to complete both bank switching offers - I suspect that as the systems become integrated, you will no longer be eligible for a bank switch with one if you’ve already received cash from the other

FREE Shortbread for Sky Customers

Sky have been releasing weekly gifts for their Sky VIP customers (simply download the MySky app and you’ll get access)

This week you can get a FREE box of Sainsbury’s Taste the Difference shortbread - this does not work at small high street stores

You only get 60 minutes to scan the barcode from activating it so don’t activate too early and assume you’ll need help from a colleague as they can be temperamental to scan yourselves! I would recommend heading to a self-scan till rather than a scan as you shop till as the barcode readers are more receptive of the moving barcodes!
