A HALF-DECENT SURVEY APP!?

If you’ve been following my side hustle journey for a while, you will know that I HATE surveys with a passion. Well this year, I’ve been giving SOME survey apps a chance to see if they’re worthwhile and so far I’ve found 2 apps that are actually quite good!

Google Opinion Rewards

This app asks you questions about places you have recently visited and takes maybe 10-20 seconds for each question it asks you and pays between £0.12 and £0.30 each time depending on the length.

If you’re on an Android, this is paid as Google Play credit but if you’re on an Apple device, it is withdrawable to PayPal

Very different, but relatively good in my eyes. Set up your profile and you’ll get a load of points to start with and then get regular notifications of surveys to do which generally (for me) consist of watching a short TV ad and answering 4-6 multiple choice questions on it.

You accumulate points and can then exchange them for vouchers once you get to £5 worth. Typically you will earn 150-500 points for each survey which is worth 15-50p and these take less than a minute usually.

I’ve asked for your feedback on the Zing referral scheme and whilst dozens of you have taken advantage of it, many of you had a few concerns so let’s run through them:

What is Zing?

Zing is a mobile app created for travellers, holiday makers, anyone that spends in foreign currency or just anyone who wants an easy to use card

Who owns Zing?

Zing is backed and owned by HSBC who have pumped £100 millions into the app in an aim to catch up with Revolut and similar

Does Zing do a credit check?

Zing is a mobile wallet which you top up with cash from other bank accounts and so no credit check is done

Does Zing do an ID check?

Zing is required to do an ID check as part of the UK’s money laundering regulations but this shouldn’t put you off as it’s quick and easy

Is it worth opening another account?

I would say so, you can bag £20 for opening an account, spending £5+ on a card and that’s it! You can always close the account afterwards

Does it take long to do?

Maybe 5 minutes at an absolute push! All you do is fill in your details, top up your card and spend on it then £20 lands in your account 30 days later

Is it a good app?

I recently booked a hotel in Euros and thought I’d test out the free currency exchange by loading some pounds into my account, exchanging it and using my account.

The rate was pretty much identical to the live exchange rate, no fees incurred and easy to use!
