BONUS NECTAR POINTS

Last week, Tesco brought back round 3 of their Clubcard Challenge and this week Sainsbury’s have announced the “Count up to Christmas” challenge which allows you to earn bonus points

The spend requirement differs per person but in my app I can see:

Collect 400 points and get a 300 point bonus (x 5)

So effectively, if I spend £300 in Sainsbury’s between now and 15 December, I will earn 700 points instead of the usual 300

It’s worth remembering that Nectar points are worth 0.5p so that is £3.50 back in points working out at just over 1% cashback

It’s useful to note that bonus points will also contribute to the points earned so you may not need to spend as much to hit the threshold

This then re-sets and starts again 5 times over until 15 December

If you shop at Sainsbury’s, it’s well worth opting in BUT do not spend just to reach the limit as even buying one item could wipe out the value of the extra points

Don’t forget to use JamDoughnut or EverUp to bag serious cashback when shopping at any supermarket as this weekend they’ve been paying as high as 5% cashback (which can be combined with the above offer!)

THE MCDONALDS “MEAL DEAL”

News outlets have gone a bit crazy, for the “meal deal” that is being released, this week, whereas the nostalgia in me is more excited by the return of the McRib in the next week

The UK loves a meal deal and the price is a very sensitive issue so is this new McDonalds meal deal really a “deal” at £5?

Here’s what you get:

• Either a Cheeseburger or a Mayo Chicken

• Medium fries

• 4 McNuggets

• Medium drink

Individually the items would cost you £7.46 but realistically nobody is buying them separately, so the best comparison is the Saver Meal which gets you essentially the same thing just without the nuggets for £3.99 (location dependant). £1.01 for 4 nuggets? It’s not awful if you’re after a quick and cheap meal!
