NEW BANK SWITCHING OFFER

Santander have joined the party meaning that right now you can earn OVER £1,000 per person for switching banks, that is HUGE money for very little effort

This one is for switching to their Santander Edge current account which is pretty good as you can earn 1% on lots of your spending for a £3/m fee

They are offering £150 cash for jumping through these hoops, but go through a cashback site and you can bag ANOTHER £24 on top:

1. Switch in from a non-Santander bank

2. Within 60 days have 2+ active direct debits & pay in £1,500

3. Receive £150 within 60-90 days

If you received a switching bonus after September 2021 you are ineligible

£25 BACK ON A £30 SPEND

Rakuten is a cashback site similar to TopCashback, Honey, etc. and in the run-up to Christmas they have beefed up their referral scheme meaning you can now get a £25 cashback bonus when you spend £30

3. Spend £30+ at any of the brands

4. Receive £25 cashback once transactions confirmed

INTEREST RATES ARE DOWN

This week the Bank of England announced that they cut interest rates by 0.25% meaning that the base rate is now 4.75%

It is very likely that your savings accounts will now be earning you less as banks act swiftly to reduce rates in line with this change

Whilst this will be the case across most banks, it is well worth considering whether your money is earning you as much as it could be by comparing interest rates of similar accounts elsewhere

At the time of writing, the highest paying easy-access account remains Trading 212’s Cash ISA who recently upped their rates to 5.17%

Additionally, it’s worth remembering that banks try to lure you in with “HIGH RATES” on regular savers which are considerably worse value than you would expect because of how they work (see my blog post below)

This is great news for anyone on a Standard Variable Rate mortgage as it means that the interest you are paying will fall by 0.25%

Unfortunately, if you are on a Fixed Rate then this has no impact on you, but I anticipate rates will fall lower over the next 12 months but I wouldn’t expect rates to go anyone near the ~0% rates we saw throughout the Covid years

NEW WEBULL FREE SHARE OFFER

Webull’s free share offer ended on Thursday but came straight back on Friday with a slightly lower (but still good) offering of 10 free shares worth at least $30 (£23ish) when you deposit £100 for 90 days
